The subject of the October 13, 2020 zoom session was Policing in the African American Community.
The session was moderated by Dr. Stacey Mills, Chair of the City of Greenville Citizen Advisory Committee on Public Safety. Panelists were Dr. Karen Baynes-Dunning, former Juvenile Court Judge and former interim President & CEO of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Dr. Cedric Gibb, retired Lutheran Minister experienced in chaplaincy with the prison and public safety systems, Dexter L. Reeves County Constable, a twenty-four year veteran of law enforcement experience and Shaharazad Byrd a property and evidence officer with the Simpsonville Police Department.
This session was focused on providing viewers with information on how our response when encountering law enforcement can positively or negatively affect the outcome. The ultimate goal is to build better relationships within the community with law enforcement and that begins with trust on both sides.
Rev. Dr. Stacey Mills along with our panelists did a superb job of conveying valuable, timely, and potentially life-saving information to our audience. The full recording can be found on the Unity Sports Soccer Club Facebook page.
